Snow blanketed Beijing as it experienced the first snowfall of the year just days ahead of the Winter Olympics in February.
Video taken in the Chinese capital shows light snow gently falling across different parts of the city on January 20.
Hu Xiao, chief meteorological analyst at the China Weather Network, said the weather was caused by easterly and southwesterly winds converging near the surface of the land.
Snow in Beijing’s urban area reportedly weakened on January 22 as the southwesterlies began to dissipate. However, weak snowfall may continue throughout the mountainous western and northern regions.
