Protesters gather outside UN building in Bangkok to pressure government to resolve socio-economic problems amid pandemic

Protesters gathered outside the United Nations building in Bangkok to pressure the government to resolve socio-economic problems amid the pandemic.

Footage shows the crowd holding up signs and lighting up candles on January 25, the sixth day since the movement had started demonstrating outside the UN office.

Rolls of barbed wires were installed outside the building to prevent the demonstration from closing in with police officers guarding the premises during the event.

The People’s Network for a Just Society had listed its 15-point demands that include community rights to managing resources, resolving land conflicts, and ethnic protection laws.

The list is to be issued to Deputy Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwon, who has been assigned to respond to the issue by Prime minister Prayut Chan O-cha.
