Huge monitor lizard found climbing over the dishes family’s kitchen in Thailand

This is the terrifying moment a huge monitor lizard was found rampaging through a family’s kitchen in Thailand.

The giant Godzilla-like venomous reptile was filmed lying across the plates stacked in a dish rack in Phuket on January 23.

Video shows the brave homeowner trying to catch the lizard using a long rope and a wooden pole. He carefully looped the noose around the creature’s neck as it lay motionless on the pile of washed plates.

After successfully snaring the animal, he then dragged it down the stairs of their home and freed it to the wild.

Onlooker Marina Sakorn said: ‘We tried scaring it away several times but it wouldn’t leave. We had to drag it out.’

Asian water monitor lizards live in canals and ponds in large cities in Thailand where they feed on fish, snakes, frogs and scraps of food left by humans.

They are aggressive when threatened and have a mildly venomous bite which sometimes carries harmful bacteria.
