‘Environmentally friendly’ electronic fireworks set off at wedding in China

This is the moment locals used electronic fireworks instead of traditional firecrackers at a wedding in eastern China.

The devices were set off at a wedding celebration in Weifang City in the province of Shandong on January 28. Two men waved the lantern-shaped noisemakers that emitted crackling and whistling sounds that mimicked those made by real firecrackers.

Onlooker Yang said: ‘It was the first time I’ve seen electronic fireworks. They seem very environmentally friendly.’

Authorities have regularly enforced firework bans across China in light of the potential damage the explosives can inflict on pedestrians and the environment.
