Fallen tree knocks out power lines after thunderstorm in Thai village

This is the moment a palm tree fell on power lines and knocked out power in an entire village after a thunderstorm in Thailand.

Footage shows the tree catching on fire in Buriram province on November 3 after it became entangled in the electric cables due to strong winds.

Officials later came to repair the lines, restoring electricity to the village in the evening.

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines typically experience their tropical monsoon rainy season in May until late November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods which cause rivers to flow faster and become dangerous.
