Footage shows an oriental whip snake swallowing a green crested lizard inside a national park in Singapore.

Tan Robbin was about to leave for home when he noticed the green creature feeding among bamboo trees in Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve on February 16.

He said: ‘I was about to leave the reserve when I saw this couple that was staring at something near the edge of the forest, and so I approached them to see what it was.

‘When I was about 10 metres away, I saw the bright green colour of the oriental whip snake. Now, this isn’t the first time that I’ve seen this species of whip snake, but that day, there was just something strange about the snake.

‘It was hanging off a branch, with its head pointed downwards: in its mouth, there was a half-swallowed green crested lizard.’

The snake was successfully able to swallow its meal before it moved up a tree to rest.
