A dedicated Filipino teacher held his Zoom class while sitting on the beach to get a better Internet signal.
Footage shows the educator Mark Anthony Tindog with his online class for deaf students set up on the sand where the waves could lap around his feet in Palawan province, the Philippines on March 26.
Mark said he was unable to get an Internet reception in his remote village – a common problem in the underdeveloped Philippines – so he walked onto the beach where it was stronger.
He said: ‘It was very difficult to find a signal in our area until I found out that the reception was better on the beach. My feet were wet from the waves but it was a unique experience.’
Schools in the Philippines are closed due to the devastating effect of the Covid-19 pandemic on the country, which has seen soaring cases in recent weeks.
