Sinkhole in Italy swallows cars parked outside hospital

Firefighters rushed to the scene of a giant sinkhole which opened up in a hospital car park in Naples, Italy, this morning (Jan 8).

The enormous hole swallowed cars and tress when the ground collapsed, forcing patients to be evacuated and the electricity to be cut off.

Firefighters said several cars plunged into the sinkhole, which was around 500 square metres (5,400 square feet). Nobody was injured.
