Rescuers installed a long-rope as a lifeline to guide residents out of their submerged homes during floods in the Philippines this morning (Jan 9).
Footage shows officers from the Philippines Coast Guard wearing life vests hold the rope as they help locals stranded in the deepwater battering the village in Negros Occidental province in the early hours of the morning.
Several towns in the province have once again experienced extreme weather this week after first being battered by heavy rain severe floods on New Year’s Day. The rain returned and caused more flooding.
Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office head Dr Zeaphard Gerhart Caelian said there were an estimated 1,089 families rescued from the flood.
No one was reported injured, missing, or dead but properties were left damaged during the flooding.
