Terrifying footage shows muddy flash floods gushing through a village in the Philippines.
Three bridges were destroyed by the deluge trapping residents into their submerged homes in Makilala town, Cotabato province on April 11.
Village official Janison Hapay said they were patrolling the neighbourhood when the water suddenly rose and surged through their bridge.
He said: ‘That bridge was the only way in and out of our village. It would take a few months before it can be fixed so the residents will have to take longer routes in the meantime.’
The Davao region and nearby areas in the southern Philippines experienced heavy rains and thunderstorms last weekend due to easterly winds blowing from the Pacific.
Officials from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office had distributed relief goods to 1,130 affected families in the region.
