Schoolchildren ignored a tropical storm and happily played on a flooded field during the PE class in northeastern Thailand yesterday (April 12).

Heavy rain brought on by the impending monsoon season battered the Chumchon Ban Pak Chom School in Loei province during lessons.

However, the wet weather was not enough to stop the students from enjoying their activities as they continued their running races through the deluge.

Chadaphon Yuenyongkittichai, the school’s director, said: ‘The event was very well prepared but everything became a mess after the rain.

‘We decided to carry on the sports competition to teach the kids about the unity but they only cared about playing with mud. At least, it showed that the event was enjoyable.’
