Footage shows vehicles passing through a flooded road on a national highway due to a burst water pipe after it was hit by drill equipment.

Passerby driver Roel Mangubat Castillo was caught in the traffic congestion caused by the rising water in Mandaluyong City, the Philippines yesterday (April 12).

Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Spokesperson Celine Pialago said the leak was reported to them on Sunday evening and deployed a repair team first thing in the morning.

She said: ‘Our third-party contractor Awin Construction was installing closed-circuit television (CCTV) in the area when they accidentally hit one of the pipes.’

Due to the busted pipe, 30 villages in nearby Mandaluyong City, Pasig City, San Juan City, and Quezon City experienced water interruption.

The valves were closed to prevent more water wastage until the repair was finished later that day.
