Footage shows rescuers digging a drainage path for floodwater that was filling up on a hillside road in the Philippines.

Roads were blocked by muddy ankle-deep water in Baras, Catanduantes, after heavy rain from the northeast monsoon at the weekend.

Heavy rain has been battering the region since last month and has caused floods which have submerge several provinces in the Bicol region.

The state weather service said the continuous rain was caused by a frontal system and the surge from the northeast monsoon.
