Stricken sea turtle trapped in floating pollution saved by fishermen


This is the heartwarming moment a stricken turtle tangled a mass of floating ocean pollution was rescued in southern Thailand.

Fisherman spotted the marine creature stuck in the fishing nets and plastic pollution off the coast of Koh Rin island in Chonburi province on April 25.

They floated over and carefully cut the turtle free before releasing it into clear water so it could swim away safely.

Fisherman Tak Sararat said: ‘The turtle had some wounds on its body from where it had been stuck in the discarded nets. I think it had been floating like that for a few days. We used a knife to free the turtle and then let it swim away in the ocean.’
