This is the satisfying moment a hungry hippo crushed a watermelon in its huge jaws.
The 55-year-old hippopotamus named Mali was being fed his afternoon snack at a wildlife centre in Chonburi, eastern Thailand, on April 24.
The keeper said: ‘Mail loves eating. Melons are his favourite. He could eat them all day.’
Mali, the oldest hippo in Thailand, was given a birthday party last year complete with a cake made of fruits and vegetables. Hippos generally live up to between 35 and 50 years old in the wild. However, those in captivity have a slightly longer life expectancy.
