This is the moment a brave driver crossed a heavily flooded road after heavy rain in the Philippines.

Footage shows the truck driver powering through the deluge in Santa Cruz in Davao del Sur province on August 21.

Water from a nearby stream can be seen overflowing and inundating the path.

Onlooker Mikee Shaine Namoc said: ‘I didn’t expect to record the truck crossing there. At first, I was just filming how strong the water was overflowing.’

The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November.

Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods which cause rivers to flow faster and become dangerous.
