Skyscraper illuminated to mark Russia Day

A skyscraper was lit up in the colours of Russia’s national flag on Friday (June 11) to mark the country’s National Day.

The 87-storey Lakhta Center in Saint Petersburg, Russia, was illuminated in magnificent shades of blue, white and red as the sun set over the city.

Russia Day has been celebrated annually on 12 June since 1992 to mark the country’s declaration of state sovereignty.

The Lakhta Center is 462 metres tall and opened in 2019.
