Motorcycle riders were left stranded on a flooded road after the water reached their waists after heavy rain in the Philippines.

Footage shows the riders stopping before the deluge while the others struggled to wade through it in Caloocan City on July 6.

Onlooker Elimar Pagkalinawan said: ‘Some of those who had smaller scooters did not push through because their vehicles might be damaged. It’s always flooded in this area because it’s low-lying.’

The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are on their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
