This is the dramatic moment muddy flash floods swept through a street during a storm in the Philippines.
Shocking footage shows the brown deluge gushing between houses and submerging structures in knee-deep water in Baliok, Davao City on July 12 evening.
Resident Anne Calimbo said: ‘We have been having this problem for a while now. Everytime it rains, our street would be submerged in muddy water from the mountains.’
Her neighbour Alice Cox said: ‘We were all scared because the creek was broken. The flood could only flow to our homes because of that.’
The Philippines and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand are on their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
