This is the terrifying moment a ceiling collapsed after a heavy rain storm in Thailand on Thursday (July 15).

The government building in Ubon Ratchathani province was battered by the strong rainy season’s downpour sweeping through the country.

The next day the damaged ceiling finally gave way as scared civil servants screamed and fled in panic to safety.

Shocked worker Khun Suriyachai said: ‘I noticed the crack in the roof was getting bigger so started recording it to show what the damage was. It was so unexpected when it started to fall down.’

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are at the start of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
