A movie theatre was opened for people to sleep in after commuters were stranded due to severe flooding at a Yellow River metropolis in China.

Footage shows tired commuters resting on chairs at a cinema close to Guanhutun subway station in Zhengzhou City on July 21.

Free food and hot water was also provided to the commuters who stayed at the theatre after the horror train flooding earlier in the city.

At least 12 people have been killed as the floods filled the subway carriages due to fast-flowing water gushing through the system that rose up to their necks.

More than 100,000 people were evacuated from the city which was situated on the banks of the second-longest river in the country.
