Homes were submerged in knee-deep floodwater after typhoon Nepartak battered Japan.

Footage shows residents pumping out muddy water out of their houses while emergency responders patrolled a neighbourhood in Anjo City, Aichi Prefecture, on July 29.

Nepartak made landfall in Miyagi prefecture on Wednesday (July 28) morning and had since weakened to an extratropical cyclone but it is expected to continue bringing heavy rain in the region, Japan Meteorological Agency officers say.
