Rescue boat suffers puncture while saving residents from flood in the Philippines


A rescue boat suffered a puncture while saving stranded residents in floods in Iligan City, the Philippines on January 14.

Hanna Miflores was waiting for the other rescue volunteers when one of the boats stalled.

The rescue volunteer said the boat hit a sharp object while it was being dragged to higher ground.

She said: ‘Fortunately, they did not go far when the boat broke down. We prioritised saving the children and elderly.’

Iligan City Vice Mayor Jemar Veracruz said no one was hurt in the rains that was caused by northeastern monsoon bringing incessant rains.
