Footage shows long lines of masked citizens crowding a railway station in Guangdong province to undergo PCR testing on August 2. Others queued for tests in the manufacturing and technology hub of Shenzhen.
Authorities can be seen instructing the public and trying to maintain order as people awaited their turn.
China is currently experiencing its worst Covid-19 outbreak in months, with 328 local infections recorded across at least 26 cities since July.
The spate of new cases, attributed to the Delta variant, started in Jiangsu province where the majority of the local cases have been tallied.
Authorities have enforced mass testing, travel restrictions, and targeted lockdowns to curb the spread of the virus.
