A Chinese drone carried a Covid-19 travel code and flew across travellers amid the latest wave of infections.

Footage shows the government drone flashing the code that travellers were required to scan to show their travel itineraries to authorities in Yancheng City, Jiangsu province on August 3.

The Communist surveillance technology was seen facilitating the quarantine inspections amid the increasing number of Covid-19 infections in the country.

China is currently experiencing its worst Covid-19 outbreak in months, with 328 local infections recorded across at least 26 cities since July.

The spate of new cases, attributed to the Delta variant, started in Jiangsu province where the majority of the local cases have been tallied.

Authorities have enforced mass testing, travel restrictions, and targeted lockdowns to curb the spread of the virus.
