China performs nighttime Covid-19 tests after rise in cases

Health authorities performed nighttime checks on residents after a rise in positive Covid-19 cases in China.

Footage shows locals queueing up while health workers in hazmat suits administered nucleic acid tests in Wuhan on August 3.

China is currently experiencing its worst Covid-19 outbreak in months, with 328 local infections recorded across at least 26 cities since July.

The spate of new cases, attributed to the Delta variant, started in Jiangsu province where the majority of the local cases have been tallied.

Authorities have enforced mass testing, travel restrictions, and targeted lockdowns to curb the spread of the virus.
