This is the terrifying moment a tornadic waterspout formed off the coast in Russia before destroying a cafe.

Footage shows the giant swirling vortex narrowly missing a boat before slamming into the beachfront sweets shop in Shirokaya Balka near the city of Novorossiysk in the south-western Russian region of Krasnodar Krai on August 8.

The weather slammed onto chairs and tables before damaging the building and eventually dissipating as dark clouds loomed over.

No one was reported hurt but the cafe’s roof and windows were torn after the incident.

Tornadic waterspouts are tornadoes that form over the water before moving to land. Waterspouts usually dissipate before hitting land because they depend on warm water.
