This is the moment a wild deer interrupted a family’s picnic and stole food.
The male deer was grazing by the river at Khao Yai National Park when it saw the family enjoying snacks in Nakhon Ratchasima province, Thailand on August 25.
Instead of shying away from the group, the animal approached the family relaxing on a picnic blanket and gatecrashed the gathering.
Footage shows the deer munching on a tub of spaghetti and longan fruit as the park visitors kept their distance from the animal.
Onlooker Sara Chompoo said: ‘We were surprised how calm the deer was with us. It just fed on the food from our blanket when it saw us.’
The family then tried to feed more fruit to the hungry animal before they left the spot and transferred to another picnic area.
However, the national park staff are concerned about the chances of deers catching human-borne diseases after consuming from spoons and plates that the tourists left.
A spokesman said: ‘We have informed all tourists to maintain cleanliness after completing their meals as deers and other wild animals may come out and consume the garbage left on the ground.’
Khao Yai National Park covers more than 2,000 square km of forest and grassland in central Thailand. More than 50km of hiking and biking trails wind through this long-standing nature preserve.
