Extinction Rebellion anarchists protested on Westminster Bridge in London on Wednesday to call attention to the theory of climate change.
Footage shows the protesters holding up flags in the middle of the road as they were surrounded by police. A man with a megaphone sang to ‘keep it in the ground’, referencing fossil fuels and their effect on the environment.
Hundreds of alleged troublemakers have been arrested for different offences since the demonstrations started on Sunday August 22, police said.
The protest is part of an ongoing campaign to demand an end to the use of fossil fuels.
Officials at the UN climate change panel recently released a report connecting fossil fuel usage to extreme weather phenomena currently experienced in different parts of the world.
