Cars were washed away after being submerged by floods caused by a tropical storm in Thailand.
Astonishing footage shows the water more than a metre deep along a road in Samut Prakan on the outskirts of Bangkok after several hours of continuous downpours on Sunday August 29.
Motorists battled through the deluge but many had to abandon their vehicles and take shelter until the torrents of muddy floods had subsided.
Water pumps were deployed to drain the water out of the industrial estate into a canal nearby. Some areas were more than a metre underwater, with dozens of cars and motorcycles submerged.
Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods.
Thailand suffers from regular flash floods due to the chronic under-investment in its city infrastructure, with drains and sewers overwhelmed with water.
