This is the moment strong winds blew a family’s tent during their camping lunch in Thailand.

Footage shows the the tent being dragged away by the force of the storms while the group desperately held on to it in Rayong province on September 5.

The group managed to save the chairs but the tent was blown away by the wind. They returned to preparing the meal after the storm passed.

Holidaygoer Rungset Saesim said: ‘We were making lunch on an open courtyard next to the reservoir when the storm hit. It came very quickly but we were able to continue grilling steak after it stopped.’

Thailand and other countries in Southeast Asia such as Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines are in the middle of their tropical monsoon rainy season, which lasts until October or November. Soaring temperatures reaching 35 degrees Celsius are often followed by powerful tropical storms with thunder, lightning, rain and flash floods which cause rivers to flow faster and become dangerous.
