This is the moment a mystery pillar of light appeared in a city in northern China.
The beams of light were seen over a mall in Shenyang City on September 7, attracting the attention of numerous onlookers who recorded the strange sight on their phones.
Weather experts said the phenomenon may have been caused by the uneven thickness of clouds which allowed sunlight to pierce through the thinner layers. The presence of much water vapor in the air due to the overcast weather may have also amplified the light’s intensity, they said.
