Tropical Depression Nicholas brought strong winds and intense rains to a city in Texas after slamming into the Texas Gulf Coast region on Tuesday.

Footage shows violent gusts and a heavy downpour lashing a neighbourhood in Dickinson City on September 14.

Nicholas made landfall as a category 1 hurricane on the eastern portion of the Matagorda Peninsula on Tuesday, threatening parts of the Gulf Coast with up to 20 inches of rainfall.

It has since weakened into a tropical depression Tuesday evening after moving through southeastern Texas.

Residents in Louisiana, still reeling from Hurricane Ida, have been asked to stay at home as Nicholas bears down on the storm-battered region. Experts warned of potential heavy flooding, particularly in southwestern Louisiana, over the coming days.
