Pro-abortion activists gathered in Bangkok, Thailand, today (Jan 25) as ministers softened termination laws.
Abortion is currently illegally in Thailand but a bill passed in December last year paved the way for early-stage abortions up to 12 weeks to be allowed.
Ministers will vet the new laws today but it is unclear if the changes will be passed as a deadline approaches.
Pro-abortion groups gathered today to pressure ministers to pass the bill and for amendments to increase the time frame.
They are also calling for the government to cancel a section of the bill that punishes women who abort after 12 weeks with up to six months in prison and a fine of up to 10,000 Baht (335USD).
