This sweet and crunchy peanut candy locally called ‘Kanom Toobtuub’ is specially made during the vegetarian festival in Thailand.

The dish was originally used to pay homage to ancestors and is part of various important festivals. Toobtuub is a snack with peanuts as the main ingredient, which has an auspicious meaning in Chinese culture.

Footage shows the tasty sweet snacks being prepared in Bangkok on October 10.

The peanuts are first cooked with sugar and smashed repeatedly with a large wooden hammer which would be later stretched, rolled, and cut into pieces by hand.

Finished snacks are kept in a box and sold in markets, ready to eat.
