Anti-lockdown protests in the Netherlands see clashes with police


Police clashed with anti-lockdown protesters in Eindhoven, the Netherlands, on Sunday (Jan 24).

Riot police tried to break up the banned protests against the Covid-19 coronavirus restrictions but were reportedly pelted with rocks and fires being set in the streets of the city.

Officers responded with tear gas and water cannons, arresting at least 30 people.

Violence continued for a second night as furious residents protested against strict Covid-19 lockdown measures which are affecting the economy.
