A beachfront hotel was damaged while garbage washed ashore after huge waves hit a coast in the Philippines due to severe tropical storm Kompasu.

Footage shows broken sheds and fences while assorted trash could be seen scattered around during the extreme weather in Pangasinan province today (October 12).

Kompasu, locally known as Maring, is expected to exit the Philippines on Tuesday (October 13) morning and will head to China’s Hainan province where it is set to make landfall.

It is the second cyclone to hit the country this October leaving at least nine dead and 11 others missing due to flash floods while forcing the evacuations of thousands in the Luzon island.
