Pharmacy shakes as magnitude 4.3 earthquake jolts Sichuan, China

A magnitude 4.3 earthquake struck Sichuan province in China on Monday morning, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.

The quake hit 45 kilometres from Leshan City at 8:37 am, at a focal depth of 10 kilometres, the United States Geological Survey said.

CCTV footage shows a clothing store in Qianwei County shaking from the tremors. Rattled locals were also seen taking shelter at a parking lot.

Athletes participating in the 2021 Sichuan Boxing Championship in the area have reportedly been evacuated by authorities.

The Sichuan Provincial Earthquake Administration said there were no immediate reports of casualties. Meanwhile, inspections are underway to determine the extent of structural damage.
