Pedestrians were left stranded after a suspension bridge they were walking on tipped onto its side in Gansu province, China on October 24.

Video shows the pedestrians treading slowly on the guardrails of the bridge, which had twisted at a nearly 90-degree angle. Nearby locals called for assistance and helped the trapped pedestrians cross over to safety.

The local government said the suspension bridge was damaged from recent flooding and it was being repaired when the incident occurred.

Weather conditions at the time were fair and there were no strong winds. The cause of the apparent accident is now under investigation while they repair the structure.
