A massive forest fire broke out near a village in Tibet Autonomous Region early Wednesday morning, October 27.
The provincial emergency management office said the blaze started north of Kongdang Village in Linzhi City, with no gas stations or flammable venues near the fire site.
At least 49 people from Sangjiu Village one kilometre from the fire have been moved to an evacuation site.
Chayu County authorities said they have dispatched 360 rescue personnel and 30 vehicles, while the Tibet Forest Fire Fighting Corps has sent out 150 firefighters and 17 vehicles to respond to the emergency.
Meanwhile, Tibet’s meteorological department is preparing to seed clouds to douse the flames.
