Footage shows the Mount Merapi volcano on Java island, Indonesia, this morning (Jan 28) after it erupted.
The volcano erupted on Wednesday, sending a cloud of ash into the sky as authorities warned of lava flows reaching roads.
Resident Yohannes Jati said: ‘The avalanche of lava burned the trees on the slope of Merapi. The white parts are the pyroclastic materials such as ash, rock, and sand fell from the lava dome.
‘This was the longest travelled lava avalanche reaching 3,000 meters from the peak. The villagers closest to this incident have now been evacuated.’
