Thai pupils recycled old bikes to make a wall around a school field.

The unused two-wheelers were spray-painted to create a colourful fence around a school field in Uthai Thani province, Thailand.

Ban Nong Krathum School officials and villagers built the creative 85m-long wall with donated old bicycles, and purchased materials using the village’s 65,000 THB contribution.

The wall’s lower base is composed of concrete beams and brick blocks, followed by two rows of walling. The old bicycles are then placed atop a steel holder on the structure and welded firmly into place.

School director Suphat Intamat said: ‘The villagers and school staff worked together in making this beautiful wall without being paid under the previous director’s plan. It was completed by the end of 2018.’

The final wall would be 170 metres long. The expansion plan for the remaining 85 metres will be discussed with the district’s board of education.
