Truck crashes into police checkpoint under construction in China

A police checkpoint that was under construction was destroyed when a truck crashed into it in southeastern China.

The semi-trailer truck reportedly rammed into the pillars of the checkpoint in Luoding City in Guangdong province on December 12, causing the entire structure to collapse. The vehicle then caught on fire.

Footage shows the checkpoint canopy tilted over as white smoke seeped out from underneath.

The Luoding Public Security Bureau said there were no casualties caused as the site was still under construction. Initial investigations found that the incident was caused by careless driving.

The suspect has been detained by officers.
