Baby rescued on inflatable paddling pool during Malaysia floods

A seven-month-old baby was placed in an inflatable paddling pool while being rescued from floods in Malaysia.

The sleeping infant, along with bags and baby supplies, lay inside the inflatable pool and covered with an umbrella to protect it from the harsh downpour lashing Selangor state on December 19.

Video shows the roads inundated with water and rendered impassable to smaller vehicles and motorcycles.

Another clip shows that the child was safely evacuated and delivered to its family.

The flooding is said to be one of the worst that Malaysia has experienced in recent years, with a month’s worth of rain falling within days, Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said.

Some 21,000 people across Malaysia have been evacuated to relief centres.

The Malaysia Meteorological Department took down heavy rain warnings on Sunday evening as the severe weather abated.
