One year anniversary: Trump supporter waves Confederate flag during 2021 United States Capitol attack

Footage shows a Trump supporter waving a Confederate during the storming of the United States Capitol building on January 6, 2021.

The man climbed onto the bronze statues of horses to fly the controversial emblem during the attack on Congress and the seat of the legislative branch of the U.S. federal government.

Chaos erupted during a demonstration by MAGA crowds in Washington DC aimed at overturning Joe Biden’s controversial election victory.

Hundreds of demonstrators stormed and looted the Capitol building leading to violent clashes with police in which one woman was shot dead. Dozens of police were also reportedly injured in the violence.

Protesters continued to occupy the Capitol and the National Guard was called in to quell the unrest.

President Donald Trump urged his supporters ‘to go home’ but the leader was criticised for encouraging the protests.
