Filipino superhero fans wear costumes during the premiere of new Spider-Man movie in the Philippines

Filipino superhero fans wore costumes during the premiere of the new Spider-Man movie in the Philippines – which was delayed so cinemas could prioritise showing local film festival MMFF.

RJ Adar and his friends suited up as they waited for the showing of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ in a mall in Manila on January 8.

The group posed outside the cinema while dressed as the iconic Marvel superhero as well as a local fictional hero ‘Gagamboy’ or Spiderboy and Ipisman or Cockroach man – characters loosely based on the Spider-Man franchise.

Rj said: ‘We watched the movie creatively. My friends wore their Spider-Man outfits and the exciting part was, two of my friends suited up as Gagamboy and Ipisman to show our Filipino Pride.’

The MMFF – or the Metro Manila Film Festival – is an annual event starting December 25 showcasing movies from local filmmakers.
