Seven workers dead and 11 others trapped under flooded hydroelectric power plant in China

Seven workers died while 11 others were trapped under a hydroelectric power plant that was flooded in China.

A water valve burst open in Xiaojinchuanhe Guanzhou Hydropower Station trapping workers on its underground workshop in Sichuan province on January 13.

Rescue operation is ongoing for the trapped workers where two had been saved so far while two others who were previously reported alive have already lost contact.

Emergency Rescue Department director Wu Xin said: ‘Rescue work is still in progress and the water on most of the floors had been emptied.’
